Christmas at Roast…

This year’s Christmas dinner at Roast in London was nothing short of spectacular. Upon stepping inside, I was immediately struck by the festive cheer that enveloped the space. The ceiling was adorned with brightly wrapped presents, hanging from above like a whimsical holiday installation, and each table shimmered softly with seasonal decorations. The room was filled with excited patrons, their laughter and conversation weaving together to create a warm, convivial buzz that set the perfect holiday mood.

As for the food, it was a feast worthy of the season’s best gatherings. To start, the king prawns were a highlight—juicy and perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of subtle spice, each bite bringing a taste of the ocean’s sweetness. The scotch egg that followed was equally impressive, its golden, crisp exterior giving way to a flawlessly runny yolk and a layer of tender, flavorful sausage. It felt both comforting and refined, a classic elevated to new heights.

The main event for me, however, was the pork belly. Wonderfully tender and melt-in-your-mouth succulent, the meat was complemented beautifully by the creamy mashed potatoes it rested upon. The potatoes were as soft and velvety as a holiday lullaby, soaking up the juices and balancing the richness of the pork. It’s not easy to create something that feels both indulgent and elegant, but this dish managed just that.

Throughout the evening, the service was attentive and genuinely hospitable, with staff who seemed to share in the holiday spirit. Their recommendations on the wine list and signature cocktails led us to sip on fabulous drinks that matched the warmth and celebration of the occasion, the Banana colada was a hit 🙂

By the time we took our last bites, Roast had delivered not only a memorable Christmas meal but a full festive experience. There was a sense that everyone in the room—from the chefs in the kitchen to the guests raising their glasses—was wrapped in the joy of the season. It was the kind of dinner that truly felt like a holiday gift, one you’d be happy to unwrap year after year.

Until da next Tyme
