Interruptions, Interrupted……

Good afternoon all,

Interruptions are distracting and disruptive, even when they’re pleasant ones, like people dropping in or calling to talk.  Even though you can’t stop interruptions altogether, you can manage them better.

Politely but assertively encourage the interrupter to get to the point or schedule a more convenient time later (if it’s not urgent).  Maybe set aside regular check-in times when people can update you or get their questions answered.

Why not establish an appropriate ‘non-interruption time’ each day to get the work done.  Let people know when you are available and when you’re not.  When you’re unavailable, maybe listen to music on headphones and others may think twice about interrupting you!
