Original Flava – Market House

Carribean food is my jam, I love to cook it, but I love to eat it more…

Original Flava has been banting around for a year, so I took a while to make the jump and visit.

With all the hype I was expecting to be blown away by the entire experience, however, I find some things were amazing others weren’t so much.

Located in the heart of Brixton on Coldharbour Lane in Market House,- its current residency

Upon entering  Market House, it’s a small space, but very lively a melting meeting spot

Original Flava’s menu was a treasure trove of Caribbean delights, so we selected a few dishes to sample, ranging from classic favorites to modern twists on traditional recipes.

I started with the Jerk Chicken Wings,  they were tasty, but overdone, then I went on to try the prawns, which were amazing, spicy, and well-seasoned.

For the main course, We opted for the curry goat, and it was nothing short of exquisite. The meat was cooked to perfection, bathing in a rich and hearty sauce that had me savoring every bite.

A decent size plate, but there was only a small amount of rice to soak up the sauce, so we ordered extra

The sides of plantain and Mac and cheese completed our meal. I was disappointed with the mac and cheese – but saying that I am biased as to how I cook my own

We had no space for dessert as the portions were big, so we were full.

The Rum punch is a must, I could only must one as Wray and his Nephew, would have not made me walk straight from that venue

It did get decidedly busier as the night went out, so clearly its a hot and vibrant spot

Definitely worth a visit

Until da next Tyme
